The February 2020 issue of Christian Standard magazine features a 5-page article authored by HIU President, Dr. Paul Alexander. The insightful article -- titled “Depression and Ministry: How Do We Respond When Our Church Leaders Are Struggling?” – offers a keen, poignant look behind this silent epidemic.

Prior to becoming President of Hope International University, Dr. Paul Alexander, a licensed marriage and family therapist, spent years studying and teaching about depression and ministry. The need to develop a curriculum and presentation for this topic has been on Dr. Alexander’s heart, and he was compelled to action after the tragic suicides of 2 prominent pastors in SoCal.

Dr. Alexander has since created a powerful, poignant workshop and video series for pastoral staff entitled “Depression & Ministry.”  He has presented this seminar at more than a dozen churches in the past year, speaking to more than 1,400 pastors.
