By defeating the Westmont Warriors on their home floor in the semifinals Saturday night, the HIU Royals men's basketball team -- ranked #5 in the nation -- advances to it's fourth straight GSAC Tournament Championship game. The finals are set for Tuesday, March 7, at HIU's Darling Pavilion. Westmont and The Master's will meet in the women's championship game at 5:00pm, followed by the men's finals matchup between Hope International and The Master's at 8:00pm.
Tournament ticket prices are $10 for adults, $5 for students/seniors and $15 for a premium seat. The games will also be televised by FOX Sports West. To find the channel listing, click here.
In the women's tournament, No. 3-seed Westmont will take on No. 4-seed The Master's in the finals. Westmont defeated No. 2-seed Biola by a score of 59-51 to earn the first spot in the women's championship game, while The Master's avenged two regular-season losses to No. 1 Vanguard with a 69-67 win for the other spot.
On the men's side, The Master's Mustangs will compete against host and top-seeded Royals. The Master's defeated Biola 83-68 to advance to the finals, while HIU earned a victory at Westmont by a score of 76-61.
The tournament winners will receive the GSAC's automatic bid to their respective NAIA National Championships, which take place March 15-21. The women's national tournament will be at Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings, Montana, for the first time. The men will return to historic Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. Other GSAC teams await at-large berths that will be announced next week.
