The HIU College of Psychology proudly announces the addition of two new undergraduate degree concentrations: Media Psychology and Sport Psychology.
Media Psychology: This multidisciplinary concentration is designed to introduce students to the science and application in the field of media psychology. The new Media Psychology program focuses on the relationships between human behavior and media. This upcoming field will allow students to study the impact of media and the psychology behind it from creation to distribution, and alternatively the consumption and reaction to media. Courses are designed to prepare students for creative careers in areas such as media research, marketing and advertising, to conduct research in the area of marketing, and creating effective educational materials.
Sport Psychology: This multidisciplinary concentration is designed to introduce students to the science and ethical practice in the field of sport psychology. Courses are designed to prepare students for careers in coaching, sport psychology, and training. Emphasis is placed on training in the development and use of psychological skills for optimal performance of athletes, in the well-being and athletes, and the systemic issues associated with sports setting and organizations and in the development of social aspects of sport participation.
In addition to these two new programs, the College of Psychology also offers a variety of concentrations that are designed to prepare students for careers in psychology and competitive psychology graduate programs including concentrations in Child Life, Infant, Toddler Mental Health and Child and Adolescent Development.
