HIU + SPERO Program for the Performing Arts proudly present Meredith Willson’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical comedy, The Music Man, under the direction of HIU alumna, Ember Williams (BM '00). HIU's annual musicals are a popular event for the local community as well as alumni and friends of the University.
This rollicking story follows the fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the local librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
PERFORMANCES:
General admission tickets are $15 each. HIU student discount tickets will be available at the door with valid ID ($12). Will Call tickets will be available for pickup between 6-7pm on the night of the performance.
As in previous years, HIU will also host private matinee performances for local elementary, junior high, and high school students, which includes a meet and greet with the cast.
