HIU alum, Steve Carter (BA ‘02), was announced as the co-lead pastor of Willow Creek Community Church as founder Bill Hybels plans for his succession in October 2018. Willow Creek Community Church has seven locations in the Chicago area with a collective attendance of 25,000 every weekend. The church spent a dozen years, from 1992 to 2004, as the largest church in America, according to Outreach magazine. Carter has been on staff at Willow Creek since 2013, and has previously served at Rock Harbor Church in California, as well as Mars Hill Bible Church in Michigan.
