Each Spring, the Rose B. and Edgar B. McReynolds Faculty Excellence Award is presented to a HIU faculty member that embodies teaching and learning excellence, as identified by the HIU community. This year, Dr. Denise Wallace, Associate Professor of Psychology and Counseling, received this high honor. The award was presented to Dr. Wallace by Dr. Steve Edgington, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, during the spring Honors Convocation chapel.
Students who nominated Dr. Wallace shared how much they thoroughly enjoy her course lectures, citing how they wished the classes were extended to allow Dr. Wallace to go into more into depth about the topics. Dean of Psychology and Counseling, Dr. Laura Steele adds,"Dr. Wallace is an outstanding faculty committed to finding creative and innovative ways to engage students in the learning process. She is dedicated to the students and committed to empowering students to pursue their own passions."
Upon being presented this meaningful award, Dr. Wallace shared her sincere gratitude, stating, “Each day I thank God for this awesome job. I really like being here! Seeing student faces and interacting with them in class is literally the best part of my day.”
Congratulations, Dr. Wallace. Well deserved!
