Fullerton City And Business Leaders Gather For Mayor's Prayer Breakfast

Posted: October 1, 2013

More than 300 Fullerton community and business leaders attended the 30th Annual Fullerton Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Friday, October 18. The event, hosted by Hope International University, provided city members with a time to pray for city, state, and national leaders. Over 20 elected officials were in attendance, representing nine cities as well as the U.S. Congress.

Early in the program Mayor Bruce Whitaker made a brief statement encouraging attendees to work together for the continued prosperity of the city. Whitaker is in his first term as Mayor having previously served as Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem for two years.

Keynote speaker, Rick Harville, then gave an inspiring and sentimental speech about the power of Christ in his life. Now in his 29th year as the Chaplain for the LA Lakers, Harville spoke about his own basketball career and how his experiences with the game eventually led him to Christ. He also detailed his difficult but formative childhood years as well as his passion now for working with at-risk youth.

Coordinated by a volunteer committee, the 30th Annual Fullerton Mayor’s Breakfast’s premier sponsor was Hope International University. Other top level sponsors included: Care Ambulance Service, Inc.; Century 21 Discovery; Eclectic Associates; Farmers and Merchants Bank; Fullerton Police Officers Association; Jones & Mayer; and Professional Home Mortgage, Inc.; and University House.

Additional benefactors and sponsors included: Dr. William and Mrs. Wilma Peloquin; Plasticolor; Republic Services; Richey Advisors, Inc.; St. Jude Medical Center; Cemco Electric, Inc.; CG Design Concepts - Cheryl Moreno; Crane Architectural Group; Bill Dannemeyer; and Orange Country Transit Authority.
