HIU Student Athlete, Conley Kipp, Featured in The Fullerton News Tribune

Posted: January 8, 2016

The Fullerton News Tribune recently featured HIU student athlete, Conley Kipp for her return to the volleyball court after a 4-year hiatus. Kipp had played with Washington State University as a freshman in 2009, but had to return to her Orange County roots due to a staph infection in her ankle, along with ongoing pain in her knees. Kipp thought her days of playing volleyball at the collegiate level were over, but that did not keep her off the court. While studying at local community colleges in Orange County she coached club volleyball. At a club tryout, for which her younger sister was playing, she met a recruiter from Hope. After hearing Kipp’s story and seeing her passion for the sport Coach Randy inquired about Kipp’s interest in playing volleyball at Hope. With the help of Hope’s trainers, extra practices and workouts, Kipp played in peak condition and was named an NAIA All-American for women’s volleyball. This honor was a first for HIU’s women’s volleyball and a dream come true for Kipp as she had believed her collegiate volleyball playing dreams were over. Kipp ended her first season with the Royals with 277 kills and a team-high 70 blocks including 15 solo blocks. With one more year of eligibility remaining, we look forward to seeing great things from Conley Kipp!
