PsychologyDegreeGuide.org named HIU’s Master of Science in Counseling Program as one of the Top 20 Counseling Psychology Programs in the nation for 2021, ranking #11. The list includes universities across the U.S. based on each school’s acceptance rate, enrollment rate, graduation rate and teacher-to-student ratio. All based on numbers from The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), a public government database of all colleges and universities in the United States.
HIU’s 61-unit Master of Science in Counseling (MSC) program is designed to prepare students for a career as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). The curriculum integrates both theory and practice, grounded in Christian principles. Sound research skills, theoretical teaching, practical application, and clinical training are central to the curriculum. The faculty guides students through academic studies, clinical courses, self-assessment measures, and professional development, all of which provide a rich educational experience. Faculty members are current practitioners who bring their professional experiences to the classroom.
In addition to online coursework, students are required to complete at least 50 hours of professional development and 280 hours of supervised clinical work. The clinic work is completed with real-world patients directly, giving all students a chance to improve their counseling skills.
