Position Information
Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Athletics Director
Position Status: Non-exempt, part-time (10-15 hours per week)
Position Summary: The Women’s Flag Football Head Coach is responsible for developing and leading the inaugural women’s flag football team. The coach will provide visionary leadership for the program, giving substantial input into the needs and structure of the team. The position may transition to full-time depending on the successful launch of the program and meeting roster goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop the foundational framework for a competitive women’s flag football program, including recruitment plans, training programs, and game strategies.

Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes to meet the initial roster goal of 20-25 players, with long-term plans to grow the team.

Organize and lead all practices, training sessions, and games in accordance with university policies and NAIA regulations.

Ensure the development of athletically and personally student-athletes, in alignment with the university’s Christian mission and values.

Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, securing facilities, registering for competitions, and handling transportation.

Oversee the procurement and maintenance of all necessary equipment.

Mentor and provide spiritual and academic support to student-athletes, ensuring they meet academic standards and eligibility requirements.

Lead, train, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.

Monitor the program’s budget and seek innovative funding opportunities.

Promote and represent the women’s flag football program at university and community events.

Maintain a high standard of integrity, discipline, and sportsmanship in line with the values of Hope International University.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.
Employment Standards:
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, with experience in collegiate-level football (playing or coaching), or significant experience in athletic coaching.
Knowledge and Skills:

A strong Christian faith and alignment with the university’s mission

Knowledge of flag football strategies, rules, and player development

Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit and retain student-athletes

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage a team budget and coordinate logistics for games and practices

Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
Mental Demands:

Capable of managing multiple tasks, solving problems, and providing excellent leadership under pressure.
Physical Demands:

Ability to engage in physical activity, including running drills and demonstrating skills.
Visual Demands:

Occasional extended hours during practices and games.
Environment:

Outdoor practices and games with variable weather conditions. Office time includes managing team logistics and planning.
Hiring Range: $25.00 -$28.00
