12/22/09 Fullerton, CA - Hope International University’s Education Department Receives CCTC Approval for Single Subject Teaching Credential

The Graduate Education Department at Hope International University continues to expand its teacher education programs by adding a fifth new program this year, the SB 2042 Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential. The Credential provides a background in theory, principles, materials, and teaching methodology for successful application in classroom settings. It also prepares and entitles individuals to teach students who are English Learners. The Credential may be completed individually or combined with a Master of Education (Secondary Education Concentration) program for a total of 42 units.

Hope’s Education Department is recognized for its high number of graduates who have received the prestigious “Teacher of the Year” award, as well as other educational awards.

Dr. George West, Chair of the Graduate Education Department and Member of the Board of Education for the Garden Grove USD, states, “We are very proud to have developed a new credential program that will allow our graduates to teach any single subject offered in classrooms serving California’s diverse 7-12 secondary public and private school. The program has as its foundation researched-based best practices, a blend of theory and practice, and values-laden instruction from highly qualified faculty, many of whom are practitioners in their field of expertise.”

The program is available in both 100% online delivery and on-campus format for one night a week.
