Happy House 2012: Superhero Factory
One of HIU’s biggest on campus events of the year is almost here. Our annual Halloween “Happy House” is free, open to the public, and will run from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31.
An HIU tradition, Happy House is a time for students to give back to the local community by offering kids a safe and fun environment on Halloween. Last year 3,000 kids came to Hope’s campus for an evening of candy, activities, and adventure. This year’s theme is “Superhero Factory,” focusing on encouraging kids to realize that they can be their own superhero. They will also get to enjoy trick-or-treating, superhero training, carnival games, haunted halls, bounce houses and more. There is also a new element this year called “Fullerton Heroes,” highlighting local businesses. Then at the end of each child’s Happy House experience, he or she will receive a superhero certificate.
Happy House also brings together the HIU community as over 250 students plus staff and faculty come together to plan, prepare, and participate in the event. “My goal with Happy House is to provide an atmosphere where our students can serve alongside each other and be proud of what they accomplished,” Michele Kleeman, Student Activities Advisor, said. “After all is said and done, Happy House not only gives back to the Fullerton community, but it highlights the hearts of our students. Embracing the story of David and Goliath as part of our theme, we will show kids that no matter how big or small you are the Lord can make you a ‘hero’ in your own life.”
