John L. Derry became the sixth President of Hope International University on August 15, 2003. Dr. Derry comes to the university from a background of academic, campus and pastoral ministries.

A native of Illinois, President Derry is a 1972 graduate of Lincoln Christian College. While enrolled as a student at LCC, he served as senior minister with the Isabel Christian Church near Lewistown, Illinois and then with Vermont Christian Church in Vermont, Illinois. In 1978 he received a Master of Arts degree from Lincoln Christian Seminary in the area of theology and philosophy and was ordained to the ministry. more...

Paul Alexander, Ph.D. was named Vice President for Academic Affairs in February, 2010. Dr. Alexander has served Hope International University since 1995 in a variety of leadership roles that have left an indelible mark on the advancement of the University. He has served as Chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Science for Pacific Christian College of HIU, Professor of Psychology and Leadership, Director of Distance Learning, and Director of the Center for Leadership Learning. more...

Frank Scotti was appointed Vice President for Business and Finance in March, 2010. Mr. Scotti is an experienced senior executive whose career in business has developed in medium and large corporations over the past thirty years. His track record is that of driving substantial growth (50%+ for a mid-sized company and $290M for a division of a Fortune 500 enterprise) and helping companies generate successful business growth models. Mr. Scotti is also adept at the operational aspects of a corporation, and has first-hand experience in dealing with the business challenges impacting small companies and non-profit organizations. more...

Teresa Smith was appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management in February, 2010. Mrs. Smith has served HIU as Director of Admissions for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies since 2007. She was a change-agent within her department and implemented successful recruitment strategies and new initiatives. Under her leadership, the admissions team helped increase adult and graduate enrollment by 10%. more...

Michael Mulryan was appointed Vice President for Institutional Advancement in February, 2010. He previously served as Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at HIU for three-plus years. Mark Comeaux was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs in April, 2005. Under his leadership, the Student Affairs Department has undergone a number of noticeable improvements. HIU retention rates have increased to a high of 71%, with the percentage continuing to climb upwards. A career center has been created, and programs have been put in place to aid students in their career development and job search. Student spiritual formation initiatives have also been at the forefront of prioritization. more...
