7/20/04 Fullerton, CA - Darling Foundation Gifts total One Million to Hope International University

The Hugh and Hazel Darling Foundation of Los Angeles has now given one million dollars in total gifts to Hope International University. Their initial gift of $2,000 was given to the Student Scholarship Fund in 1994 and over the last ten years, additional gifts were provided for the renovation of the University library. In honor of the generous support provided by the Foundation, the library was named the "Hugh and Hazel Darling Library" when it was dedicated in March 2000.

When the 2001 "Share the Hope" campaign was launched to construct the Lawson-Fulton Student Center and gymnasium, the Foundation made a major commitment of $385,000 followed by a challenge grant of $100,000. The new gymnasium facility was named the "Darling Pavilion" and over the last year has hosted numerous athletic events, most recently the Golden State Athletic Conference Finals in basketball. As the challenge grant has now been met, this recent gift brings the total to $1,000,000.
