Both individuals and organizations participated in raising funds for the event, which was sponsored by former Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach Del Harris and his wife, Ann. Over $36,000 was raised for Student Scholarships and Departmental Programs.

The fundraiser featured a “$1,000,000 for Charity Hole-In-One Shootout,” in which ten contestants had an opportunity to win one million dollars for charity ($500,000 for the university and $500,000 for their favorite charity) by hitting a hole-in-one on a par three hole. The “Shootout” was sponsored by Bill Avery and Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Insurance Brokers. While the million dollar shot was not made, Chuck Puckett won the “Closest to the Pin” award, landing just eight feet and five inches from the pin.

Puckett, a former mayor for the city of Tustin and a member of Hope International University’s Board of Trustees, was also the top fundraiser, bringing in almost $6,000.
