Dr. John Derry, President of Hope International University, introduced Mr. Stead with this statement: "He is one who has chosen to use the talents and abilities that God has given him in the business world. In doing so, he has served as a role model of professional integrity and ethics."
Mr. Stead demonstrates a relentless commitment to the success of others. His commencement speech served as an inspirational message to all at the ceremony as he shared a few of his personal values, such as treating all people with equal dignity and respect, continued learning, spiritual and physical growth, and teaching others. He emphasized using the "three P's"- "power, permission, and protection: power to do what you know will be right; the permission to continue to learn; and the protection that when you make mistakes, you won't make the same one next time."
Students were motivated by his parting words: "It is far easier to create a tomorrow for yourself than to change the today that you're in. So go out and create a tomorrow that makes a difference and leaves a legacy that you can be proud of."
