“Hope Leadership Skills Class Travels to Europe”
A group of ten Hope students traveled to Europe this summer from May 19 – June 6 as part of a new overseas course designed as an alternative to the required Leadership Skills class. Students spent twenty days traveling through Europe, beginning in Germany and concluding their travels in Austria.
Dr. John Webb, Professor of Communication, and Katie Stricker, Director of Student Programs and Retention supervised the expedition. Stricker, who initiated the program, strongly encourages cross-cultural experiences for college students.
“What you learn while traveling internationally can be life changing,” said Stricker. “I like to give students the opportunity to travel as often as I can.”
The group spent five days in Germany, traveling to Frankfurt and Munich. From there they set off to Prague, Czech Republic where they spent six days before moving on to Vienna and Salzburg, Austria. Their time was not only spent studying, but also observing the many sights that Europe has to offer, including the Schloss Mittersill Castle in Mittersill, Austria (pictured above).
