Women’s Softball Team Raises Awareness for Cancer

On Saturday, March 17, the Hope International University Women’s Softball team is hosting a Cancer Awareness Game at Craig Regional Park, Field #3. The pregame events will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the first game in the doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.

In support of ovarian cancer, the Royals will be selling ribbons on campus the week leading up to the game and wearing teal during the game against Azusa Pacific University. Before the game, members of the HIU community who have battled, are currently battling with, or have been impacted by someone dealing with cancer are invited to join the teams on the field for a prayer and festivities. Family and friends are also welcome.  Ally Ferreira, a 22-year-old woman who is currently fighting ovarian cancer, will throw the opening pitch.

Head Coach Ty Angel has announced that the team is planning to make the Cancer Awareness Game an annual event.
