Lisa Igram came to Hope International University in January 2005, and is excited to be working with international students in the United States. After living overseas for two years and taking several trips abroad, she knows what it is like to need a welcoming presence in a new country. In addition to taking care of immigration details for the international students at Hope, she also helps international students adjust to American life and teaches for the Institute for International Studies, Hope’s Intensive English Program. Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree from Grove City College in Grove City, PA in English Literature and Christian Thought. She went on to earn her M.A. in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) while teaching English at a university in China through Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, CA.
Sera Gil, Korean Student Liaison
(714) 879-3901 ext. 1697
Sera Gil started working at Hope International University in September 2005 as the Korean Student Liaison. She oversees the problems and the needs of Korean students at Hope and supports them as they adjust to American culture. She assists students with translating, giving advice, and facilitating exchange programs with Hope’s sister schools in Korea. She is especially focused on needs of the Master of Church Music (MCM) Korean-track students and their family members. Because Sera came to Hope in 2003 as an international student, she understands the difficulties as well as enjoyment that international students face when they come to America. Her experience being an international student gives her motivation and enthusiasm toward serving and working with international students. Sera graduated from Hope in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies.
