SGS Full-time Faculty

Full-time Faculty: Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology, Emphasis: Counseling/Clinical Psychology

Description: Responsibilities include teaching courses in marriage and family therapy, with other teaching opportunities in psychology and human development. The candidate will be expected to mentor graduate students and actively participate in the department and University. The position will focus primarily on graduate teaching assignments, with some teaching as well in undergraduate and adult learner programs. Although August 15 is the earliest projected start date, the position will remain open until filled.

Requirements: Counseling/clinical psychology- Candidate must have a Doctoral Degree in Psychology from a regionally accredited program. The candidate must provide evidence of strong clinical supervision skills as well as significant clinical experience. A Marriage and Family Therapy license is preferred. Licensed clinical psychologists with a strong background in marriage and family therapy may be considered. Courses taught will require experience in clinical skills, assessment, family systems, and therapy techniques. Certification as an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Approved Supervisor is preferred.

Administrative Assistant

Summary Description. The Administrative Assistant supports the Dean and Director of Program Administration as they oversee the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS).

Duties and Responsibilities. The Administrative Assistant’s responsibilities typically include:

  • Preparing correspondence, photocopying, filing, and other clerical support.
  • Answering the telephone for SGPS.
  • Acting as receptionist and offering hospitality to visitors.
  • Scheduling faculty and staff meetings.
  • Scheduling classrooms and conference rooms.
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies.
  • Making travel arrangements for the Dean and Director.
  • Assisting the Director and Academic Department Chairs in developing faculty contracts.
  • Collecting timecards and distributing payroll checks.
  • Preparing purchase orders.
  • Maintaining confidential, up-to-date faculty and staff files, including application, résumé/vitae, academic transcripts, and other required personnel documents.

  • Maintaining current faculty and staff contact information.
  • Maintaining the SGPS sections of the electronic University Archives.

  • Other duties assigned by the Dean or Director of Program Administration.

Assistant Director of Program Administration

Organizational Relationship: Reports to Director of Program Administration, SGPS

Summary Description. After students complete the admissions process, the Assistant Directors of Program Administration shepherd them through their academic programs from initial enroll-ment through graduation. They also assist the Director of Program Administration and Academic Department Chairs with key administrative functions, such as student orientation, maintaining accurate records, and developing course schedules. Assistant Directors are assigned to a specific academic department(s), but sometimes perform tasks that serve the wider School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS).

Duties and Responsibilities. Primary responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Program Administration include:

3. Program Administration

Employment Standards

  • Education/Experience. Two years of college minimum; degree preferred. Work experience in higher education preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills. Understanding of demands of higher education, office and computer operations. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and telephone skills; excellent written communication skills, including grammar and spelling. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and database management software. Accuracy in basic math, including addition, subtraction, and fractions.

Pacific Christian College

Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Science

Hope International University (Fullerton, California) invites applications for a full time faculty position as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Science in its undergraduate school, Pacific Christian College. The appointment is for a continuing position beginning August 15, 2008 (or possibly January 10, 2009).

Applicants should have earned a doctoral degree in a Natural Sciences field and should have experience teaching in higher education. Doctoral degrees in a health science field will be considered a plus. Capacity to teach lower division math would be an additional asset. Candidates must be able to affirm the mission statement and core values of Hope International University www.hiu.edu and be able to articulate a worldview that effectively integrates Christian faith and science. Teaching load for the position would include general education science courses in the Leadership and Ethics Core curriculum of the college, as well as foundational courses leading toward the establishment of new degree programs in the health sciences. Teaching lower division courses in math may be assigned when appropriate.

Although August 15, 2008 is the preferred and earliest projected start date, the position will remain open until filled.

The primary teaching assignment for the position is for undergraduate courses, with some graduate courses included. Requirements: Cognitive/Neuropsychology – Candidates must have a Doctoral Degree in the field from a regionally accredited program, plus experience in any area of cognitive neuroscience. Teaching assignments will include mostly undergraduate courses and will require breadth of experience and expertise in assessment, learning, memory, educational psychology, cognition, statistics and research methods.

Description: Responsibilities include teaching courses in the social and behavioral sciences, particularly in Human Services/Social Work. Teaching assignments may also be offered in one or more of these areas: psychology, sociology, marriage and family therapy, and human development. The candidate will be expected to mentor adult learners, as well as residential undergraduate students, and actively participate in the department and University. The position will include teaching primarily in the adult learning undergraduate program and the residential undergraduate program, with occasional graduate courses in the marriage and family therapy program. The position will remain open until filled.

Requirements: Human Services/Social Work – A Master of Social Work degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Clinical Social Work licensure is required. A Doctorate in Social Work is preferred. Courses taught will require breadth of experience in the area of human services, social policy, social issues, human development, interventions for diverse populations, theoretical perspectives, and effective delivery of counseling services.
