About Hope

Photo - Discover Hope

Hope International University is not only planted in the heart of one of the largest urban areas of the world, but it is also situated in the midst of a significant academic complex of five colleges and universities that together serve over 50,000 students. The largest of these institutions is California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Hope enjoys an especially close relationship with CSUF, one that affords students a rare opportunity to take advantage of the strengths of the small university and the wide range of offerings of a state university at the same time.

Hope's placement in the midst of this active academic setting and large, multi-ethnic, greater Los Angeles environment symbolizes the University's desire to interact with our world. In addition, students from more than forty countries enhance Hope's global perspective. Institutionally and individually, Hope seeks to be an agent of change in a troubled culture. The University seeks to prepare students who, regardless of their major, will be Christian servant-leaders impacting the Church and society through their service in volunteer or professional ministries.

To this end, curriculum is designed to motivate and equip every Hope major to render significant service to society and church. Hope International University does not offer students a quiet, ivory-towered retreat from community responsibility. Although high academic standards are maintained, faculty members encourage students to seek more than high academic achievement; faculty and student body alike are involved in activities of service, even as the students prepare for lives dedicated to being servant leaders in their chosen profession.

Faculty

If one asks Hope's students what is especially distinctive about this University, they will respond, as our alumni/ae regularly do, that the faculty makes the difference here. These teacher-scholars care deeply about their students' whole lives, not just their academic achievement, as they transform the mechanics of higher education into life-changing experiences. They model servant leadership personally and professionally.

Location

Hope International University's main campus is located in North Orange County, in the city of Fullerton, California, U.S.A. The campus is easily accessible, just west of the 57 Freeway between Chapman and Nutwood Avenues. It is located immediately south of California State University, Fullerton. In addition to our main campus, Hope has satellite facilities strategically located throughout Orange and Riverside counties to meet the needs of our adult student population.

In the heart of the cross-cultural world of Southern California, the Fullerton campus facilities provide an atmosphere of beauty and spaciousness. Built in 1965, the architecture gives Hope a distinctiveness as unique to the community as its academic program is to the complex of surrounding colleges.

The central building houses the library and faculty offices. Three wings provide classrooms for a growing student body, administrative offices, and multi-use facilities. The Kenneth Stewart Chapel and a 700 seat theater, Pacific Auditorium, provide for special events often involving the community. The Terraces buildings house several administrative offices, classrooms and conference facilities. And, the Lawson-Fulton Student Center, our most recent campus addition, provides for the dining, student service, and recreational needs of the campus community.

The Residence Halls, across the campus, house 450 students, providing them with additional recreational facilities, including a large pool. On-campus parking is provided for the commuting student.
